Botanical Name: Oreganum vulgare
Producing a sharply-flavoured green leaf, Oregano is similar in many respects to Marjoram. It has a strong almost bitter-peppery taste and a slightly lemony aroma. It's added to a variety of dishes but is best known in Italian and Mexican meals and as a constituent of bouquet garni. Harvest throughout spring and summer, before the flowers appear.
